ValgueroĪs the first of the non-canon maps, Valguero introduced a completely new creature to the game: The Deinonychus. Highlights include an active volcano that can erupt and even rain meteors from the sky, ruins and sunken Viking boats, and occasional storms. However, this does not detract from the popularity and quality of the map. Unfortunately, this map was never 100% finished, so even today some aspects are still unfinished. The map named after the nordic apocalypse, was the next to be added to the official maps. Highlights of the map include a large natural bridge connecting the snow biome with the redwood biome, a huge ocean, two underwater domes that can be used as bases and the name-giving floating island "The Center". The first official non-canon map created by modder Ben "EvilMrFrank" Burkart. This allowed the entire community to enjoy these maps. These maps started out as creations of modders, and were so good in the end that developer Wildcard, in cooperation with the modders, included them as official maps in the game. Non-canon Official MapsĪRK: Survival Evolved offers a number of other maps in addition to the official expansions, which are not canon from a story perspective. Until that point, however, it's a long journey with countless hours of gameplay.
